bend of bay has been giving away books since 1999. Most are paperbacks. Their condition varies. Some are like new, while others date from the 1960’s with yellowing pages and disintegrating bindings. Also included are back issues of various magazines, such as Bomb, The New York Review of Books, Bookforum, Art in America, The New Yorker and The Paris Review.
All books are left in public places. Each has the following label on its cover:

If you are interested in distributing some of our books, contact us at the email above or complete this form. You will need to reimburse us for the cost of shipping via U.S. Media Mail, but we will tell you the cost before sending them off to give you a chance to change your mind. There will be no charge for the books themselves, and we will not send more than 5 small paperbacks or two trade paperbacks.
In 2007, we started putting some of our inventory for sale on line using eBay’s Half.com service. Most prices are rediculously low and should enable us to recapture our shipping costs. The books on half.com do not carry our “free book” sticker. However, we hope the low price will encourage you to pass any book on. If you for some reason want the sticker, send us a comment with your order and we will include one.
